Twincam Corolla 1.3, 1.6 and GTI Impression and Handling Review
Talk about the impressions, Toyota Corolla Twincam is one of the best sedan on its segment. Its have a good suspensions which offer comfortable rides. Whereas the handling of each type are have very much differences. Acceleration on engine type SE 1.3 belongs to bad because less responsive engine. Its reason is a ratio of car weight and engine power is not balanced. So many people are disappointed with this type, to reach the top speed you should step more on the gas pedal and fuel consumption became very inefficient.
For type SE Limited 1.6 litre carburetor, acceleration is quite good. The use of a single camshaft (SOHC) makes the acceleration on the lower rotary being slightly corrected, though its not good as its competitors – Honda Grand Civic. After the sales of Twincam engine was discontinued, it replaced by the DOHC 4AFE injection engine on Great Corolla.
At the top of the model – the GTi type, its simply have the incredible handling. Acceleration towards the topspeed can be done in a short period. The power and torque of its engine able to compete with the Corolla Altis 2002 1.8 litres engine as the ninth generation. That is, the Toyota (and Yamaha) 4AGE engine is still not yet to be underestimated until the next 3 generations of Corolla. As a complement, a disc braking system have been used at each wheels of the Twincam Corolla GTi type. While the other models just equipped with disc brake in front and rear wheels is using drum brake system.
